Calgary, September 22, 2017 – Icon Retail Centre has recently secured its first anchor tenant, Canada’s leading energy company, Suncor Energy Products Partnership. Suncor will be operating a Petro-Canada gas bar at Hungerford’s Icon Retail Centre, a brand new build to suit development offering mixed retail and auto industrial opportunities.

The 5 acre Icon Retail Centre, on the corner of 52nd Street SE and 61 Avenue SE, follows the success of the adjacent Icon Business Park, which is now 86% leased and set new industry standards in the area for its transformation of a once-underused office building (Calgary’s largest manufacturing plant and one of the city’s largest buildings) into a now vibrant, Class A, multi-business hub. The 761,000 square foot facility sits on 45 acres of land and has been called one of the most beautifully created office environments in the country.

The new Icon Retail Centre will service commuters along 52 Street SE, as well as employees in the local industrial parks. The site is situated on a newly expanded, multi-lane corridor of 52 Street SE and 61 Ave SE providing excellent exposure and accessibility to major transportation routes, including Deerfoot, Glenmore, Stoney and Barlow Trails. Surrounding developments such as the adjacent Icon Business Park will contribute to the 1000+ project employee count by 2018.

“Suncor’s commitment to Icon Retail Centre brings another national tenant to the Icon development, making Icon Retail Centre the perfect build-to-suit opportunity for retail, drive-thru, restaurant, fast food/convenience store and auto uses.” says Blake Tsuyuki, Senior Leasing and Sales Manager at Hungerford Properties.
