Icon Retail Centre, Hungerford Properties’ new 5-acre retail development in southeast Calgary, has officially started construction and welcomes the addition of Mary Brown’s Chicken to the development. Mary Brown’s serves some of the most popular deep-fried chicken in the country in over 140 locations, and is leasing approximately 2,000 square feet of space at Icon Retail Centre. They are expected to open in the summer of 2020, joining Petro-Canada gas bar at this new built-to-suit development.

Icon Retail Centre follows the success of the adjacent Icon Business Park, which is now 97% leased. Icon Business Park is a state-of-the-art development that has set new industry standards for its transformation of a once underused office and warehouse building into a now vibrant, Class A, multi-business hub.

Icon Retail Centre will service commuters along 52 Street SE as well as employees in local surrounding industrial parks. The site is situated on the newly expanded, multi-lane corridor of 52 Street SE and 61 Avenue SE, providing excellent exposure and accessibility to major transportation routes, including Deerfoot, Glenmore, Stoney and Barlow Trails.

“We are thrilled to welcome Mary Brown’s to Icon Retail Centre,” says Michael Hungerford, partner with Hungerford Properties. “Icon Retail Centre is the perfect build-to-suit opportunity for retail, drive-thru’s, restaurants, and auto uses in a prime Calgary location. With the success of Icon Business Park, this corner of Calgary has become a thriving industrial and retail hub and we are excited to be part of that growth.”
