Albion Fisheries
Designed and built by Hungerford Properties, Albion Fisheries’ new headquarters in Richmond is a sustainable and state-of-the-art seafood processing plant. It has been called the most advanced building of its kind in North America. The new 65,400 square foot plant on No.6 Road includes 11,000 square foot in office and 54,400 square foot in processing and warehouse. Construction started in February 2012 and was completed in January 2013.
Features
- The highly complex building was designed from scratch to optimize the various uses and process flows of the seafood products
- The design successfully incorporated many innovative and sustainable features including a white reflective TPO roof, an ammonia cooling system using recycled energy and recirculating glycol, highly efficient mechanical and electrical systems, bioswale for stormwater management, and permeable pavers for parking surfaces
- Ultimately food safety and quality was a paramount driver for how the building was designed
